Treatments for the cat

Questions that emerged through the treatment

19/05/2021: Amy's treatment: the facade

  • How does an institute inhabit the space?
  • What are the consequences of taking the space for granted?
  • What does it mean for an institute to inhabit a space temporarily? What does it mean in relation to the building? (Simone de Bauvoir - All men are mortal)
  • What is the limit of the building? Who is it?
  • What are the overlapping of the building, the institution, and humans? (Maybe different if we consider participants, mentors, SG, public, cleaner, curator,…)
  • If the building has a position, how does it allow/support a different one?
  • If we subvert a language we don’t agree with, who’s accountable?
  • How what we learned as artists can transform the institutional structure?
  • What are “empowered professionals” accountable for?
  • How/when do you listen to your enemy?
  • How/when does one uses “we” semiotically political-?
  • How do you recruit people in your fight?
  • What’s the name of the treatment?
  • Practice that triggers imaginary travels for political awareness?
  • What is the building’s voice?
  • Who is the building?
  • Which is the problem to speak in the name of the building? Can we do it? How can you (the building) support the differences?
  • How can the “we” could be?
  • How the “we” can be something that includes us and at the same time excludes?
  • Who are the building?

Certainty

19/05/2021: Amy's treatment: the facade

  • You are beautiful
  • The building is an entity
  • Buildings can talk
  • I can travel with the building
  • Emobodying “the other” (in text and in performative exercise) works for me as a start to try out a new perspective, which is of course full of flaws.
