apass_ABOUT::solidarity_against_cuts.md

a.pass wants to express its solidarity with the artistic sector heavily impacted by the drastic budget cuts as part of the Flemish government's new cultural policy. a.pass provides a platform for artistic research practices that can only exist through the development of an inclusive, plural and critical art scene. An art scene constituted by a cosmology of aesthetics where social, educational, economical, race, genders and other differences are possible, complex and nourishing.

Flanders has supported for the past 20 years an ecology of art practices and critical endeavour recognised internationally as pioneer. This cultural policy has been discussed, implemented and supported by a political environment. The cultural field created an essential environment for social, political and intellectual development, even though its budget has been cut repetitvely for the past years. The current measures will dramatically undermine what has been at the root of Flanders cultural prestige.

a.pass will participate in the discussions and support the resistance that will emerge from the art field as a responsibility to its mission.
